Skånes konstförening stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine, and in deep sadness over the violence perpetuated onto them by the state of Israel. We condemn the killings of all civilians and call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. We would also like to encourage art institutions across Sweden to be more vocal in support of human rights and the fight against settler colonialism.
Knowing how to take a stand as an art organization is not always clear. What we can do, however, is to express solidarity. We can make an impact by insisting that the horrors and human rights violations must end, and through educating ourselves on the histories that have led to these tragic events.
We would like to make the Skånes konstförening premises available for groups who require a physical space for their efforts to aid Palestine. In doing so there is hope that through our work the broader public will take collective action and that together we can affect change. Feel free to reach out to us.
Skånes konstförening wants to amplify and acknowledge the statements shared by other art organizations in Sweden such as Mint, MDT and Konsthall C. We thank them for breaking the silence and join them in calling for more organizations to openly take a stand.
At a time when so many of us are feeling powerless, we cannot give up hope.
